Cons:
- I found nothing bad about this Knife, I highly recommend it!
2. Benchmade - Griptilian 551
My Second choice is the Griptilian 551 from Benchmade, Benchmade is very known for their perfect designs, and they made a great one again. The Griptilian 551 comes with a 3.45″ drop point blade made from the high-end 154CM STAINLESS STEEL. It offers great edge retention, and high corrosion resistance, and excellent toughness, this high-end steel combined with a well-designed handle made from glass-filled nylon, which gives more toughness and a great look! Now let’s talk ergonomics, the handle fits great in hand, it has a thump ramp for a sturdy and comfort grip, a blade guard in the top of the handle for safety, and finally a manual opening with AXIS Mechanisme that brings a smooth opening.
In all I wasn’t sure between the G551 or the Atlantic Salt, which one should be my first pick, at the end G551 end up my second choice for two reasons (well three if we count that the Atlantic Salt is full serrated and the G551 is semi-serrated), the price and the lack of index choil, other than that this knife is great, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful designed serrated pocket knife!.
Pros:
- An Attractive design
- Great ergonomics with a smooth opening Mechanism
- Great ergonomics with a smooth opening Mechanism
Cons:
- A bit expensive compared to the Market, sometimes I prefer a lower price than pricy technology.
3. Kershaw Leek
The Leek knife from Kershaw, I can’t recall how many times I recommended this knife, they combined simplicity with efficiency, the knife comes with a very great price, great quality and great performance, it has 3″ drop point blade made from the 14C28N STAINLESS STEEL, it has great corrosion resistance, great wear resistance and good edge retention, it comes with a stainless steel handle, an assisted opening system and a reversible pocket clip, for the ergonomics it’s good, fits nicely in hand, but it lacks the premium features like an index choil or a thumb ramp.
In all, this knife is simple, tough, very sharp and it’s semi serrated, a great choice for those looking for affordable knives with high-quality steel and average design, I highly recommend it!.
Pros:
- Great Corrosion Resistance and Wear resistance
- Simple design with good ergonomics
- Very good price compared to the value
Cons:
- Lacks some features that offer a high-quality design (but it's not something really bad)
4. Spyderco Ladybug 3
Another Spyderco Knife, the Ladybug 3 the Hawkbill serrated edge edition, this knife is known for being so tough yet so light, it has a 1.88 inches blade made from H1 Stainless Steel that offers great corrosion resistance and wear resistance, comes with Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon handle that offers more strength to the knife, it has an index choil, a thumb ramp both offers great ergonomics to the knife, and let’s not forget the hawkbill shape, I personally find that the best shape for a serrated knife should be a hawkbill, it gives the knife more cutting power.
Now let’s go back to the knife, for me this is my top 1 choice if you’re looking for a small pocket knife, it’s so small and powerful, I highly recommend it!
Pros:
- Very light and power knife
- Great corrosion resistance and wear resistance
- Hawkbill shape blade offers more cutting power
- Life Warranty by Benchmade
Cons:
- A very small knife might not suit users with big hands
5. Spyderco Tenacious
Now if you’re looking for a thick, heavy and sharp pocket knife with serrations, the Tenacious is your choice for sure! It comes with a 3.39″ black coated 8CR13MOV Stainless Steel blade, that offers great corrosion resistance and wear resistance and decent edge retention, plus of that, it has a nice designed handle made from G-10 adds more strength and resistance to the knife, it has a thumb ramp, a 4-way pocket clip for easy carry and finally, the opening/closing motion is so smooth.
I find this knife very fine in terms of ergonomics, it’s big, tick with a great grip, I would highly recommend it for EDC and daily tasks, but I must remind that the steel offers low edge retention, so you might end up sharpening your knife more often.
Pros:
- Great design with fine ergonomics
- Thick blade with a sturdy handle
- Great corrosion resistance and wear resistance
Cons:
- It doesn't hold an edge for long.
Final Words
You might hear some negative opinions about a serrated edge, that yo should go for a fine edge, I’m here to tell you, there is nothing wrong with a serrated edge, in fact, it might be a better choice for you, because at the end it depends on your usage, a great usage for a serrated edge would be an outdoor usage (cutting rope, cutting boxes, batoning, making fire), beside the shape of the edge, make sure to choose de the right steel, some steels offer toughness over corrosion resistance others offer hardness and corrosion resistance, and finally, if you wish to acquire a pocket knife always check your local laws, I included a small serrated pocket knife in this list (the lady bug3) it’s completely legal in all states, other than this I hope I brought some help to your buying experience, and if you have any questions or opinion feel free to leave in the comments below.
